SAFETY TECH, EUROPEAN LEADER IN CAMERA MONITOR SYSTEMS AND DRIVER PROTECTION DOORS, INTRODUCES ITS TOP PRODUCTS TO THE UNITED STATES

UMA motorcoach expo

At UMA Motorcoach Expo, Raleigh, NC, 4-7 February – Booth #542

Safety Tech, a business unit of Gauzy Ltd., is a market leader in advanced driver assistance systems (“ADAS”) and driver protection doors with over 95 years of experience in the commercial vehicle industry. Specialized in driver safety solutions, Gauzy’s ADAS expert division seeks to offer complete customized solutions designed to meet both customers’ specific needs and regulatory standards as we strive to make roads and cities ever safer.

Following the success of its Camera Monitor System (“CMS”) Smart-Vision in Europe, Safety Tech is proud to present its innovative solutions to the motorcoach operators and OEMs at UMA Motorcoach Expo.

Safety Tech’s Smart-Vision CMS, already chosen by many operators and buses and coach original equipment manufacturers (“OEMs”) for different types of vehicles, will be showcased along with collision avoidance systems for the side and the front of the coach.

This cutting-edge demo features a segmented suspended particle device (“SPD”) sun visor, which is designed to improve visibility and control for drivers, Smart-Vision CMS, which replaces mechanical rearview mirrors with high-definition cameras and interior displays designed to offer optimized visibility and enhanced ergonomics, and SafetySide and SafetyFront functionalities, which will alert drivers to the presence of vulnerable road users and potential obstacles and improve safety. Notably, Smart-Vision products can be retrofitted to existing vehicles, and are available globally with the potential for elevating road safety standards worldwide.

The Smart-Vision CMS covers a larger field of view, the interior displays eliminate glare, and the automatic adjustment of the screens’ brightness improves visibility in all lighting conditions (e.g., low light in situations such as at the entrance and exit of tunnels or in bad weather).

Smart-Vision is designed to consistently provide high-quality and stable (i.e., no vibration) images, night and day, in any driving environment. In addition to reducing lateral blind spots, Smart-Vision offers functions such as parking and maneuvering aid and guidance assistance allowing a shorter turning radius.

Smart-Vision offers greater driving comfort, reduced fatigue, and enhanced safety.

Indeed, the system significantly cuts down fuel consumption thanks to the removal of the mirrors, which also lowers wind resistance for improved aerodynamics.

Smart-Vision is also shown to improve maneuverability and reduce the risk of collision between the mirror and tree branches or road signs, which lowers maintenance costs linked to potential damages, while enhancing the vehicle’s availability.

Some of Safety Tech’s customers include Irizar e-mobility, Hess, Van Hool, MAN and Prevost.

Safety Tech will also showcase its newest ADAS solutions, SafetySide and SafetyFront, which mitigate blind spots.

Blind spots are a major cause of accidents involving buses and coaches. The UN regulations R151 and R159 on Blind Spot Information Systems (BSIS) and Moving Off Information System (MOIS) help avoid collisions with vulnerable road users. The regulation requires the systems to inform the driver of the presence of a nearby cyclist who could be endangered when turning away from the driver so that the driver can stop the coach before crossing their path, and when a pedestrian or bicyclist is in close proximity in front of the vehicle during drive-off.

Safety Tech has developed innovative systems that go beyond the standards set forth in the UN regulations in order to achieve maximum safety for drivers and road users. SafetySide and SafetyFront offer a wider detection area, allowing for the detection of all vulnerable road users. SafetySide is available for both sides of the vehicle, and is integrated in the Smart-Vision solution without any additional display.

Safety Tech’s modern driver protection door, Savety-Door, will also be displayed. With more than 10,000 vehicles equipped with the Savety-Door, Gauzy’s business unit is a leader in the European driver protection door market with its modular composite-based door comprising a reliable up/down sliding glass that separates the driver from the passengers.

Easy to install as original equipment or refit, it is also a robust and low maintenance solution with highly customizable features. A version specifically adapted to the American market has been developed to serve the first American customers for tests.
